NOTES:
1. Water supply to the safety shower shall be activated by a pull-rod or a step-on platform.
2. The Safety shower water application rates shall meet the minimum ISEA Z358.1
Requirement; however 190 l/min flow is required as per Shell specifications.

flow is required as per shell specifications
5. The safety shower shall be fitted with a suitable explosion-proof Alarm device which shall be activated
when the shower is being used and which will raise an alarm in the control room.
6. Control valves on the Emergency Safety Shower & Eyewash equipment should be of a design so as to
enable them to be moved from ‘off’ to ‘on’ in one second or less and to remain open until intentionally closed.
7. The spray nozzle outlets eyewash and eye/face wash shall be protected from airborne contaminants when
idle.
8. Combination shower and eyewash unit shall be capable of simultaneous use of the shower and the eye or
face wash by the same user.
9. The unit shall be painted green & white, and provided with green & white identification symbol visible from
distance.
10.Safety shower & eye wash unit shall be as per Emergency Shower and Eyewash Std. Spec. no. 59B16.4,
in addition to complying with above requirements.
